Vanity Makeover

Recently I purchased my dream piece of furniture, a horribly painted vanity with an antiqued brown finish (before not pictured). After searching high and low for a vanity with a fold up mirror in the center section I found this beauty! The mirror hidden away gives the vanity a sleek and modern feel. I bought the vanity from a thrift store for around $70. My friend and I stripped the paint, painted the entire piece with a semi gloss black and the handles silver (after painting black to enhance the effect). On top are two mirrored jewelry boxes and a mirrored rose vanity tray with perfume. So far I LOVE how the vanity turned out! Now I just need to finish the chair and find a pretty mirror for the inside!

Today I bought fabric for the back and bottom cushions of the newly painted black metal chair (pictures to come). I love this cream and silver brocade fabric because it fits in with my Old Hollywood glam theme!

If you are interested in giving your room a facelift with a gorgeous vanity check out local thrift stores, flee markets and yard/garage sales. I found this beauty which is perfect on its own. I love all the storage! You may find a vanity/dressing table or even a desk that fits your unique design aesthetic. Let me know what you find in the comments below!
